De la Renta

Stanley Tucci in the role of Nigel in the 2006 film "The Devil Wears Prada", refers to Oscar de la Renta, as one of the greatest artists of the century

Born July 22, 1932, in Dominican Republic, the island that gave him the love for the exotic, so colorful and luminous.

At the age of 18, he went to Spain, where, beside of another great artist, Cristobal Balenciaga, he discovered his passion for fashion.

After the wife of the American ambassador in Spain saw some of his designs, commissioned him to design a dress for her daughter. The daughter and the dress appeared on the cover of Life magazine.

From Madrid to Paris and then to New York

The day after his arrival in the City of Light, he was offered a job, at Lanvin, where he refined his style. Two years later, he moved to New York - where he became a designer for Elizabeth Arden.

He made his name a brand branched out into fragrance and then in a home line, then on the furniture, never put aside his creations prêt-à-porter and Haute Couture, worn by both political personalities, as well as Hollywood stars and even our first lady Angelica Rivera
